This is going to sound so cliche’… but I am going to say it anyways. After years of watching people in planning weddings and getting married, I have come to believe that the marker of a man in true, real, so-deep-it-hurts kind of love is the way he looks at his bride. I have been known to be completely paralyzed at times – stopped in the corner of a church with my camera covering my face crying – because of how some Grooms look at their Brides. Like she’s the most amazing treasure that they ever could have dreamed of. Like they are the luckiest man in the world. Like they are so excited to spend the rest of their lives letting this person know just how much they mean to him. That is how Bryan looks at Ashley. And they are really lucky that I didn’t just collapse into a little, sniveling ball and start sobbing during their engagement shoot. It’s that precious.

It all started with a dress. Not their relationship, per se, but the ones that came before them. The relationships that paved the way – taught them how to love and how to stay committed to a marriage. The dress; made of silk and lace and so much more, belonged to her grandmother, and then was worn by her mom and Aunts. It is a dress that has meant so much to so many people, not because of what a beautiful piece of clothing it is, but because of what it means to their family. And that foundation; that dedication to love… that is where it all started.

Welcome to the World Baby Maddie:

Two weeks ago this big World got a little bit more beautiful. Our new niece, Madelyn Zoe Strahan, came into the world at a healthy 7 pounds 6 ounces. Her timing couldn’t have been better since her Aunt Ashley and Uncle Graham were shooting a Wedding in Nashville that weekend, so we got to spend a lot of quality snuggle time with her while we were there! There was a lot of kissing and hugging and smelling (is it creepy that I like to smell new babies? no. i didn’t think so.) I also got to pull out my camera and take a few newborn pictures for her.

Maddie – You can’t read this. But one day you’ll be able to. Actually, you’ll probably be able to read by the time you’re one because your sister loves to read so much and I’m sure she’ll be a wonderful teacher. But I digress. You are beautiful. Like – light-up-the-room, to-the-moon-and-back beautiful. I love you so much already (and not just because you smell like a wittle bitty baby). I am so thankful that I get to watch you grow, take you shopping and take you to get your first tattoo (just kidding, lauren) Love you Little Lady – Aunt Ashley

We are ending this week with a fun engagement session of a super sweet couple. Lauren and Kevin are San Diego transplants who are new to Atlanta, so they wanted an e-shoot that showcased a quintessential part of the city that they have really come to love: Piedmont Park.

Happy Monday, y’all! We are excited to announce that we are going to be adding another (super amazing, really fun, oddly hilarious, and discerningly good taste in music) person to our team soon.

We are looking for an in-house editor; someone who is proficient in Lightroom and who can work in our studio with us.

The position will be a per-job, contract position requiring between 20-35 hours most weeks.

Perks include Chipotle, getting bossed around by a three-year old, and seeing Ashley’s super-sweet dance moves.

Married: Rachel and Chris

Where there is love, nothing else matters. Rachel and Chris are the perfect example of that fact. As we were driving to their Wedding in the pouring rain, there was a 70% chance of rain all day long. And wind. And thunder. And things that every Bride planning an outdoor Wedding hopes against. And yet, when we walked in to find her having her hair set in soft, beautiful curls, there was a giant, immovable smile on her face. Because there was love all around her. And nothing else mattered. And, as luck would have it (but really, I attribute it to more than luck) the rain came and went and then stayed away for most of the day – coming back for just enough time for us to play in it a little bit – and then heading on its way, leaving us with the softest, most beautiful light… and a sunset that Rachel and Chris will remember for the rest of their long, happy lives together.

Happy Birthday Graham!

There are days when I can’t seem to find the strength to give myself enough grace, to admit the big dreams, and to pick up the pieces when I drop them. And there are days made for rejoicing over victories and making new friends and traveling the world. And he is there for all of them. Ever since I was 12 years old he has been there, and today is all about celebrating him. I am so thankful for the fact that I get to know someone – daily live with, work with and play with someone – who is as amazing as he is.

Today is Graham’s birthday. My favorite day of the year. The only day that he let’s me spoil him and dote on him and wake him up early for presents.

I am so grateful for this day; and for all of the years of dreaming and growing that this day represents, and I am so excited to celebrate 100 more birthdays with the Love of My Life.

Happy Birthday, Grammy, I love you to the moon and back again.

Engaged: Jann and Nathan

We are spending the day trying to ignore the fact that it is raining outside. We are looking back to the gorgeous weather that we had last week and we are just going to pretend that it’s still seventy degrees and sunny this week. It’s just better if we pretend. Or embrace it and buy some cute new Hunter rain boots. Maybe that’s the answer. I’m still deciding. So, while I have an internal debate over big things like rain-gear, take a look at Jann and Nate’s engagement shoot from last week. We had so much fun with them hanging out in Roswell. We love that little city and all that it has to offer!

Nate and Jann – Thank you so much for spending the evening with us. The way you make each other laugh and smile is so amazing, and we cannot wait to document your Wedding Day in December.
