Featured: WPJA Q4

I wish that I could pass out virtual party hats to y’all right now because I am just so stinkin’ proud of my hubby.

One of his beautiful images was awarded FIRST PLACE in the WPJA Q4 competition. It’s a huge honor and we are thrilled to be named among some really stellar talent! Our week is definitely off to a stellar start; we hope that yours is, too!

On Putting One Foot in Front of the Other

It started out as a joke: wouldn’t it be funny if we all ran the half-marathon. Graham and I used to run them in college… but that was seven years ago; before babies and businesses and adult responsibilities. But wouldn’t it be funny.

So we took the first step and signed up. And then we took the second step by badgering Graham’s Dad and Brother-in-law until they signed up. Now we were official. Except for the whole training part. But we had taken steps; and taking the first step – even if it’s tiny and almost wholly imperceptible – makes finishing much more likely. Ideas, a vision, even ambition will get you nowhere without movement… and in order to cross the finish line you have to start by lacing up your sneakers.

And there are seasons of life in which the starting is so hard. Unthinkable, even, because there is simply no space left on your shoulders to carry anymore load. And yet, here is the great irony: those are the seasons in which you have the opportunity to find out what you’re really made of. If you want to, if you’re brave enough… because chances are that what you’re made of is something pretty exceptional… and setting the bar that high can be some pretty terrifying stuff.

But you’ll set it and then you’ll raise it again. And we will all watch, eyes sparkling and mouth curved up with pride, at just how much starting and finishing you will be able to do.

Way to go guys! I’m so impressed.

That is awesome!!! Congrats on facing it and doing it! I could think of every reason and excuse in the world why I couldn’t/didn’t run. Then I realized I only needed one reason to- I wanted to and ran the first lesson of couch to 5k this weekend!

Married: Lizzie and Matt

Her Dad stood in the middle of the dance floor, unable to take his eyes off of his Daughter as he spoke. Her eyes sparkled with tears as she listened to him: “This day has been extraordinary and you, Lizzie, are absolutely beautiful… but then you know that comes from the inside, don’t you?”.

And it does. All that is radiant about her, all that sets their great love apart as one for the ages, and all that made their Wedding Day spectacular, came from the inside. From the place in their hearts where they, as a family, make the daily decision to have compassion, care for people, and love before judging. Something that they will, no doubt, teach to their children when the time is right. That, when you are happy, when people are the priority in your life, the goodness wells up inside of you like a light that shines on everyone you meet. It’s true beauty. And it comes from within.

We have to give a GIANT thank you to the incredible vendors who worked tirelessly and with incredible talent to make this Wedding everything that it was. This was one of the most amazing teams we have ever had the pleasure to be a part of, and we truly look forward to working with each and every one of you again.

Engaged: Lisa and Mike

There is a long-standing tradition in Graham’s family of men who looooove airplanes, and so when Lisa and Mike called us with the idea for a travel-inspired engagement session (to reflect their Barbados Destination Wedding) our fingers might have gone numb from excitement, and we might have accidently dropped the phone. But then we picked it back up and said yes of course let’s make that happen right this second… oh, you’re busy right this second? ok well how about in the next couple of weeks?

Mike and Lisa – We had so much fun hanging out and climbing on airplanes with you:)And we loved meeting your adorable pups! Much Love – G+A
